Menninger & Associates Charity Classic Golf Outing
Teaming up with local charities to give back to the community.
Starting in 2021, Menninger & Associates began an initiative to host an annual charity golf outing. The goal of the outing is to team up with local charities as they raise money for their respective campaigns. As the host, Menninger & Associates recruits not only golfers, but sponsors (generally other local businesses) for the event. Our firm is a strong advocate for the local community, as they are the very people that keep us in business.
For the inaugural year, we teamed up with two fantastic charities that work hard yearly in the battle against pediatric cancer. Jake’s Dragon Foundation and The Connor McKenna Foundation regularly do fundraisers and help each other out as the families are not only close, but both celebrate the lives of their young sons who fought bravely against pediatric cancer. Less than 4% of the federal budget for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancer. Both foundations dedicate all proceeds exclusively to pediatric cancer research, which is a substantial yearly contribution, helping children across the country.
The second year, we were dedicated to helping man's best friend. Home At Last Dog Rescue is a non profit, group of volunteers whose goal is to save the lives of homeless dogs suffering in high-kill shelters, as well as owner-surrender dogs who need to be re-homed due to unfortunate circumstances. They are not a shelter, and have no central location for the dogs they rescue. They pull dogs from various shelters and provide foster homes until they are adopted. In doing so, they hope to provide an alternative to the purchase of puppy mill and pet store dogs, thereby reducing the demand for, and ultimately, the supply of, such dogs. Home At Last strives to match each dog with the right family after the dog has been observed in a foster home.
For the third annual outing, we recognized first responders by teaming up with Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Tunnel to Towers Foundation is a non-profit organization that honors the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller, who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. They also honor our military and first responders, who continue to risk the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The name may be recognizable, as the charity was responsible for paying off the mortgage of fallen Pennsylvania State Trooper Branden Sisca as part of its annual Season of Hope Campaign. Branden is survived by his wife, Brittany, and their daughter who was born after her father was killed.
