4th Annual Charity Golf Outing

Abbey Wolf was vibrant and kind with an infectious laugh. She was loved and admired by all that knew her. Abbey was compassionate, creative, driven, smart, funny and full of life. She was a daughter, a sister, a grandchild, a niece, a friend, an athlete, and a crafter. Sadly, Abbey also silently battled depression and anxiety. Tragically, we lost Abbey to suicide on November 7, 2020. She was just 14 years old.

Abbey's Bakery was born out of the need to put our grief to work, sharing the message that it's ok to not be ok and remind people that it's ok to ask for help. Abbey's Bakery ultimately strives to prevent other families from experiencing this loss and pain. Abbey was happiest when she was baking. She found peace when she was working in the kitchen and joy when she shared her delicious treats with friends and family. Her specialties included banana bread, chocolate chip cookies and brownies. She seasoned everything with her secret ingredient: Love.

Abbey may not be here physically, but her family is determined to carry on her love for baking with others through sharing her story, promoting mental health awareness & suicide prevention, and providing resources to those who may be suffering. They share that love and her recipes in hopes that it brings others joy and happiness, hopeful that baking creates an environment that fosters meaningful mental health conversations.

Proceeds from the sales of Abbey's Bakery mason jar baking mixes are invested into the community. They support local mental health and suicide prevention initiatives across NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention). One of the programs Abbey's Bakery is most passionate about is Hope Squad. Hope Squads are evidence-based peer to peer suicide prevention clubs and they have sponsored 2 clubs in the middle school and high school that Abbey attended. They are always looking for new schools, so if you or someone you know is involved in the school system and are interested in learning how Abbey's Bakery can fund this program simply reach out to them. The Tee Off Against Stigma Charity Golf Outing hosted by Menninger & Associates Financial Planning saw 15 teams of golfers competing at the outing’s dedicated course, Brookside Country Club in Pottstown, PA. This year, the outing welcomed renowned trick shot golfer, Dan Boever. Dan is a golf entertainer who travels the country performing interactive shows for corporate and charity events. With a shotgun start in a scramble format, the course had plenty of mini games for golfers to enjoy including: Beat the Host, “Blind” Tee Shot, Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. With the outing’s signature putting contest occurring on the tricky 9th hole, finalists had to putt in the rain for the trophy. The day was beautifully captured by Andres Maldonado Photography.

Along with a delicious brunch spread, Mike Sloane and his team at Brookside Country Club provided a five-star prime rib dinner for the exhausted, wet golfers before host Michael Menninger raffled off gift baskets and other donations as well as recognize the trophy recipients of the event.

Over the first five years, this outing has raised over $64,000 dollars. This year, with 33 local business sponsors (23 being premier sponsors), the outing raised over $10,000! Premier sponsors included: John Hancock, Pimco Funds, First Eagle Investments, Invesco, Nexpoint, Alera Group, Columbia Threadneedle, Unruh, Turner, Burke & Frees, Hallam Engineering & Construction, Veronica Beard, T. Rowe Price, Touchstone Investments, Franklin Templeton, Upper Providence Living, Bald Birds Brewing, Open Tier Systems, J.M. Pereira & Sons, Boomtown Internet Group, EZTPA, Souder Scenna Accounting Services, Kiki Vodka, Allegra Marketing & Print Solutions, and of course, Menninger & Associates.

She seasoned everything with her secret ingredient: Love.  Sadly, Abbey also silently battled depression and anxiety.  We tragically lost Abbey to suicide on November 7th, 2020.
