The Montgomery County Hero Fund was established to ensure the sacrifices of Montgomery County's first responders are never forgotten and that their families receive support when tragedy strikes. Founded in 2012 by Sharon and Sean E. Cullen following the line-of-duty death of Plymouth Township Police Officer and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Brad Fox, the nonprofit provides immediate and ongoing assistance to law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, military personnel, and other first responders who are seriously injured or lose their lives in the line of duty. Through financial relief, family support, and community programs, the organization helps families navigate difficult times while honoring those who serve.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Montgomery County Hero Fund is sustained through donations, fundraising events, and community partnerships that allow it to respond quickly when tragedy occurs while providing long-term assistance. Guided by a dedicated board of directors and committed supporters, the organization remains focused on its promise to honor Montgomery County's heroes and ensure their families are never forgotten. The Fore the Heroes Charity Golf Outing, hosted by Menninger & Associates Financial Planning, brought together an impressive field of 24 teams and 95 golfers for a memorable day of competition, camaraderie, and charitable giving at the picturesque Brookside Country Club in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Although the weather forecast called for heavy rain throughout the day, the enthusiasm of the participants never wavered. In a true display of teamwork and flexibility, every golfer agreed to move the outing to an earlier shotgun start, allowing the tournament to be completed just before the rain rolled in. Thanks to everyone's cooperation, the event unfolded under favorable conditions, making for an enjoyable day on one of the area's premier golf courses.
Golfers competed in a scramble format while taking part in a variety of entertaining on-course contests that kept the competition lively from the first tee to the final green. Participants tested their skills for a chance to win a Hole-In-One prize—a brand-new Jeep Wrangler generously provided by Tri-County – Limerick—along with fan-favorite challenges including Beat the Host, the "Blind" Tee Shot, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin. One of the outing's most anticipated traditions, the signature putting contest on Brookside's notoriously challenging ninth green, featured 19 finalists battling it out in an exciting knockout format. As spectators gathered around the green, each putt heightened the excitement until one competitor emerged victorious to claim the coveted trophy. Throughout the day, Andres Maldonado Photography expertly documented the tournament, capturing the friendly competition, memorable moments, and the spirit of generosity that defined the event.
Guests were treated to first-class hospitality from start to finish. Before heading out onto the course, golfers enjoyed a delicious brunch spread, providing the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow participants and sponsors. Following the tournament, Mike Sloane and the outstanding staff at Brookside Country Club served an exceptional five-star prime rib dinner, giving everyone a chance to relax and celebrate the day's success. The evening concluded with host Michael Menninger thanking the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and donors whose support made the outing possible before raffling off an impressive assortment of gift baskets and donated prizes. Tournament champions and contest winners were then recognized with their trophies, bringing another successful Fore the Heroes Charity Golf Outing to a fitting close while celebrating the event's mission of honoring and supporting those who serve our communities.
